Eduard von Schoultz was a professor and director of the Chalmers University in Gothenburg from 1853-1881. He was born on May 6, 1815 in Stockholm and died on March 30, 1881 in Gothenburg. As can be seen above, the medal incorrectly lists his year of death (DÖD) as 1880.

In politics, von Schoultz was a member of the City Council of Gothenburg from 1862-1870 and represented the City of Gothenburg from 1873-1877 in the parliamentary second chamber.

This medal was from PhD students at the Chalmers School in Gothenburg in remembrance and thanks.
