The monument 'Schwedenstein' was created to commemorate the death of the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf's death in the Battle of Lützen on November 6th, 1632. On November 6, 1837, a monument in the form of an iron baldachin was erected above the stone by the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
