Obverse:
Two female figures (The Dutch Maiden or possibly the goddess of war Minerva on the left and a Native American woman representing America on the right) shake hands over a pedestal with a caduceus and cornucopia. The Dutch Maiden uses a staff to place a Phrygian cap on America’s head. America holds a shield with thirteen stars and has her left foot on the head of a chained lion (Britain). The rear end of the lion is still upright.

Reverse:
A mountain rock on the left. A unicorn with a crown around its neck is lying next to the rock, its horn broken off and lying on the ground. It is implied that the unicorn rushed at the rock.
